Sidewall Pastry Kitchen-Bakery Shop in Travelers Rest Sweetens Up the Weekend

Owners Loren Frant and Andy O’Mara, who created a growing community around great hand-crafted pizzas, have added a sweet concept to their restaurant collection with Sidewall Pastry Kitchen. Located in Travelers Rest, the cute bakery shop opened a little over a year ago with a lineup of irresistible pastries, donuts, cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, muffins, and much more.

The pastry kitchen doors open on the weekends with a changing menu featuring desserts like chocolate cookie dough layer cake layered with chocolate buttercream and cookie dough and iced with vanilla buttercream along with a chocolate ganache finish. There’s also a selection of cake slices in flavors like blueberry lemon and gooey butter cake. Lucky you if the weekend special includes cake pops, which sell out in flavors like chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip cookie dough – so come early or order ahead.

Brioche donuts are available in about 14 different flavors likemaple bacon, peach crumble, salted caramel crème Brulee, Boston cream pie, and birthday cake cookies and cream. 

Weekend menus always include vegan and gluten-free versions  so expect options like apple fritter macarons, 9-inch pies, chocolate crinkle cookies, peanut butter cheesecake brownie, and vegan coconut ganache.

While sweets are the star here, the breakfast biscuit sandwich makes a statement of its own. Generous portions of scrambled eggs, cheddar, and crispy all-natural nitrate-free bacon are all piled between a flaky, oversized scratch-made buttered biscuit. Biscuit cinnamon rolls are leveled up by using the same buttery biscuit recipe as the base, then rolled with cinnamon, brown sugar, and smeared with cream cheese icing. Enjoy in the dining area or take it home. Cinnamon rolls are also available in pans of six and ready to heat and eat.
