The New York Jets are already rounding up candidates to become the team's new general manager after Mike Maccagnan was fired Wednesday

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Joe Douglas "has been discussed in league circles" as a possible general manager candidate and is already close to head coach Adam Gase. Douglas is currently the vice president of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Schefter also reported NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah is "under serious consideration" to get a front office role with the Jets.

Douglas would be an interesting candidate for the GM job considering his experience in a variety of organizations. He spent 16 years in the personnel department with the Baltimore Ravens and one season with the Chicago Bears before joining the Eagles in 2016.

The Houston Texans wanted to interview him for their GM vacancy in January but the Eagles declined, per Albert Breer of The MMQB.

If he does leave, it will be another significant loss for Philadelphia after director of pro scouting Dwayne Joseph joined the Oakland Raiders earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Jeremiah will try to follow in the path of current Raiders general manager Mike Mayock, who also went from draft analyst of NFL Network to a team's front office.

With that said, he also has significant experience at the team level after serving as a scout for the Eagles, Ravens and Cleveland Browns during his career. The former Appalachian State quarterback has been in the media for the past few years but has showed he can still provide help in the scouting department.

The Jets will hope to find some stability with their next move after the shocking decision Wednesday.

Maccagnan was given the opportunity to find a new head coach in Gase, run the entire draft as well as spend big on free agency this offseason. It's relatively bizarre to make a change at this point, but the organization clearly has its sights on newer options.
