Man Who Hit Mom Pushing Child In Stroller Gets 32 Months In Jail
Shane Bidwell pleaded guilty to risking the life of a child when the car he was driving while under the influence struck the Waterford mom.
WATERFORD, CT — Shane Bidwell will spend 32 months in state prison for driving his car into a mother pushing a baby stroller in Waterford in 2018, according to a report and court records.
The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of what police testified was alcohol and medications including suboxone and Klonipin, it's reported.
After striking and injuring the mother and her 2-year-old daughter who was thrown from the stroller he stopped, said he was sorry, but then fled, it was reported. Waterford Police caught up to him a short time later.

In court Tuesday, Bidwell was found guilty of driving under the influence, evading responsibility by fleeing, and risk of injury to a child.
Court records show that on the evading charge he was sentenced to 1 year in jail, on the DUI, 6 months, suspended after two days, with two years probation, and for the risk of injury to the child, 10 years, of which he must serve 32 months, records show.

Bidwell has previous convictions for drug possession and shoplifting. His lawyer said his client was remorseful.
