The Chattanooga Mocs fell 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Western Carolina in Southern Conference women’s soccer action at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
“Not our best performance,” Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. “Western was on the front foot to start the match and deserved to win.”
The Catamounts scored a pair of goals in the first half and followed with a third in the second. WCU transfer Valentine Pursey scored two goals including the game winner in the sixth minute and Kirsten Hahn also netted the ball for the Catamounts.
Chattanooga got off seven shots in the match with four on goal.
Samantha Shaw made three forays toward the goal with two on net.
Mackenzie Smith, the Mocs leading shooter, got off one shot for Chattanooga as did Shelby Hash. Faith Gober and AK Anderson each had one shot on goal for UTC in the match.
“It is a disappointing result but we know the group will bounce back,” McKinney said. “We need to have a good week of training leading into our last league match on Sunday.“
