Rita J. Mullenax

Rita J. Sponer Mullenax, age 84, of Little Rock, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020. She was born January 28, 1935 in Morrilton, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Fred Michael Sponer and the late Mary Bilgischer Sponer. She was the widow of O.H. "Bill" Mullenax and retired as a Supervisor from the Employment Security Division. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock and St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Vincent. She is survived by her niece, Janice Cummings of Hattieville, and nephew, Ronald Joseph Berkemeyer of Lake Village; sister, Bernice Sponer Berkemeyer of Lake Village; close friend and companion, Bill Atherton of Little Rock; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Louis Sponer. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim Burnie and Deacon Steve Mallett officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers will be, Ronnie Sponer, Gary Kaufman, Willey Burgener, Bob Burgener, Harold Beck, and Charlie Gangluff. Rosary will be 6 p.m. Thursday, January 23, with a visitation following at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton.
