Shelby, Naomi Ruth "Nannie"

Naomi Ruth “Nannie” Shelby, 89, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, March 27, 2009, in an Orlando, Fl., hospital.

She was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Nurses’ Guild and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Davenport; four brothers; two sisters; husband, Rassie Shelby.

Survivors are her two loving daughters, Dorothy (Ralph) Freeman, of Chattanooga and Joyce Fisher, of Orlando, Fl.; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Cowan, of Soddy-Daisy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jimmie Ingram officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state on Thursday after noon at Taylor Funeral Home.
