Update: This article has been updated to indicate that Mr. Bailey was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.

GROTON, N.Y. (WETM) – A Tompkins County man armed with a loaded firearm was arrested by New York State Police after a police chase on Saturday morning in Groton.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 16, a New York State Trooper spotted a vehicle on Williams Street and observed the driver make vehicle and traffic violations.  The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop but Bailey failed to comply. 

Bailey subsequently struck another vehicle before crashing into a telephone pole.  Bailey was not injured in the crash and was taken into custody. Troopers located a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.

Bailey was charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree and the misdemeanors of Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the third degree, False Inspection Sticker and Reckless Driving. Bailey was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
