A man threatened an off-duty NYPD deputy chief with a golf club near Chelsea Piers Wednesday morning after accusing the cop of almost hitting him with his car, police said.

The deputy chief, who works in Manhattan, was driving near 11th Ave. and W. 17th St. about 9:35 a.m. when pedestrian Jason Ratliff confronted him for driving too close as he crossed the street, police said.

Ratliff, 46, pulled a golf club out of his bag and “waves it, menacing” the cop, a police source said. A second source said Ratliff shoved the club into the driver’s side open window.

The deputy chief pulled out his gun but no shots were fired. It wasn’t immediately clear if the chief pointed his weapon at the man.

Ratliff, of Brooklyn, was charged with menacing and assault and given a desk appearance ticket. Police said he was heading to the golf club at Chelsea Piers.

The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the chief’s role in the incident, police said.
