Eugene E. Johnson

A funeral service for Eugene E. “Gene” Johnson, 74, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Medicalodges Eudora. He moved to Lawrence in 1954 from Clinton, Mo.
He was born June 6, 1935, in Osceola, Mo., the son of Thomas Lee and Nellie Myers Johnson.
Mr. Johnson worked for Anderson Trucking Co. from 1954 to 1966. He worked for Associated Builders from 1966 to 1979. He worked for the city of Lawrence Water Department as a warehouse processor and retired Jan. 1, 1998, after 18 years of service.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Mount Oread Aerie 309, Lawrence.
He married Patricia E. “Pat” Edwards on Feb. 2, 1973, in Miami, Okla. She died May 8, 2008.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Gene Johnson, Lawrence, Mike Cooper and wife Pam, Fort Collins, Colo., and Keith Cooper, Florida; three daughters, Carolyn K. Johnson, Claudia Jones and husband Michael, and Karen Williams and husband Bob, all of Lawrence; four brothers, Cecil Johnson and James Johnson, both of Clinton, Mo., the Rev. Harold Johnson, Bolivar, Mo., and Paul Johnson, Grain Valley, Mo.; two sisters, Juanita Smith, Harrisonville, Mo., and Wanda Jones, Independence, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
