Estabrook, 49, of Letts did not survive the crash, and authorities had been looking for the driver who committed the class D felony of leaving the scene of a fatality accident.

On Wednesday, the arrest of the driver who struck Estabrook was announced, a Muscatine County Attorney news release stated.

Terry Gough, 52, of Morning Sun was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatality accident, a class D felony punishable of a prison term up to five years, and a fine between $750 and $7,500, the news release said.

Court documents detail the crash, stating Gough was driving a semi-truck with an attached trailer when he struck Estabrook. Gough claims he saw Estabrook's bicycle lights and took "evasive action to avoid striking Estabrook," and was unsure if he hit him or not. He reported swerving and looking back through his truck mirrors, court documents state.

Terry Gough arrested and charged for leaving the scene of a fatality accident.

Gough did not immediately stop after the crash, which is required by law, although he later checked his vehicle for possible damage, court documents add. He later went back to the scene and drove past emergency personnel investigating the crash, according to the news release.

An Iowa State Patrol investigation confirmed the vehicle that struck and killed Estabrook was driven by Gough, court documents claim.

Gough is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on October 25.
