Making Your Mark: Traceability of Nestle Purina Dog Food Bags
Functionality offered by Matthews International's S.C.I. F.I.(TM) 3400 Drop-on-Demand(TM) ink-jet system installed at Huhtamaki manufacturing facility at Malvern, Pa. to ensure traceability of its Nestle Purina dog and cat food bags, is described in this paper. It states the need and advantages of the ability to trace the product history using the date coding system, detailing the capabilities of the 3400 ink-jet small character printer system, which uses a pressurized ink supply, and a wide range of printhead choices for printing characters of variable heights with greater tilt angles. The marking process of the bags is explained, and the benefits offered by the low maintenance Matthews marking equipment are detailed in this paper.
