Cleveland police: Woman found dead in Ohio City apartment could be homicide victim

Cleveland police said Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority officers found the body of 35-year-old Erica D. Stigall about 3 p.m. Saturday on the 1200 block of West 25th Street in Ohio City.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Officials are working to determine whether an Ohio City woman found dead Saturday afternoon is the victim of a homicide.

Cleveland police said Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority officers found the body of 35-year-old Erica D. Stigall while providing a well-being check at her apartment on the 1200 block of West 25th Street.

The victim suffered “some bruising” and was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

Members of the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office were called to the apartment as part of the investigation, officials said.

The medical examiner will determine the official cause of Stigall’s death.

Officials said a family member requested the well-being check from CMHA.

In December, a woman was found shot in the head inside her vehicle on the same Ohio City block.
