Coronavirus Numbers Dip In Ohio

COLUMBUS, OH — All of Ohio's key COVID-19 metrics dipped on Wednesday.

The Ohio Department of Health tracks new COVID-19 cases, deaths, hospitalizations and intensive care admissions and compares them to the state's three-week average for each of those metrics. All of the metrics were down on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, there were 6,701 new COVID-19 cases confirmed among Ohioans. The state had been averaging 7,372 COVID-19 cases per day.

At least 79 Ohioans have died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Ohio is averaging 72 COVID-19-related deaths per day.

Here are all of Wednesday's COVID-19 numbers:

  • New cases: 6,701
  • New deaths: 79
  • New hospitalizations: 288
  • New ICU admissions: 15

The Ohio Department of Health estimates that 656,433 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered.

Additionally, 338,778 Ohioans (or 2.9 percent of the total state population) have started the COVID-19 vaccination process. Gov. Mike DeWine has said the next phase of vaccine distribution could begin later this month.
