Best college towns in the country

Sorry, Louisville, but a new ranking from Review.com claims Lexington is the best college town in Kentucky.

The ranking took information from the United States Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics and factored in overall population, student population, rental costs, college education rates, transportation access, unemployment rates and bar availability.

Then, researches analyzed the cost of living, unemployment rates for people ages 20–24 and easy access to the city.

It only analyzed cities with fewer than 250,000 people but "kept in mind that the metro areas surrounding the smaller towns would also include the student population."

Lexington, which is home to the University of Kentucky, was determined to be the best college town in the state and ranked No. 48 overall in the country. Maine, Hawaii and Alaska didn't meet the criteria for the study and thus were not analyzed.

Iowa City, Iowa was ranked the best college town in the country. It houses the University of Iowa.

Lexington didn't make the lists of best cities for cost of living, student employment, city access, night life and fun or the college-educated non-student population.
