CAGLE – Mary Martha, 64 of Deerfield Beach, FL passed away on November 18, 1999 after a valiant fight with cancer. A 40 year resident, she had a 27 year career as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Deerfield Beach Elementary School. A member of her family taught at Deerfield Elementary for over 4 -decades, her mother and her husband taught there before her. She received her BA from Murray State University and graduated work from F.A.U. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Willalakes Investment Club of Lighthouse Point, National Education Assoc., Classroom Teachers Assoc. and Nat’l Elem Teachers Assoc. She is survived by her loving husband, Cleatus; sons, Chris of Deerfield Beach and Chuck (Lisa) of Lighthouse Point; and grandsons, Conner and Cameron. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Deerfield Beach. CUOMO – Mario, 83 a retired general contractor, died Friday, November 5, 1999 at his home in Melbourne. He was born in Italy and spent his early years in Massachusetts. He moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1950 and owned and operated Cuomo Construction Company. After retiring he relocated to Melbourne and spent his summers in North Carolina. He -enjoyed his church, hiking in the mountains, reading and his grandchildren, James and Christina Cuomo and Aimee and Glenn -Meyer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna Cuomo; son, James Cuomo, Sr. of -Jensen Beach; daughter, Carol Meyer of Edmond, OK; sister, Rita Geisel of Ocala; and his 4 grandchildren. RUZICH – Maxine Lucille Ruzich passed away at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL Friday, November 19, 1999. Maxine shared her residency between Columbus, OH and Fort Lauderdale, FL. Born and raised in Rio Grande, OH to the now late Helen and Lester Thompson, she graduated from Gallia Academy High School and was a graduate of Bliss College. She was a legal consultant and had worked with many lawyers in the Columbus area. She was married to the late Stephen Ruzich. Also preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Hale, Patsy Hall and Dorothy Sprague. Surviving sisters are Louise (Don) Herb, Jane Little and Betty Siders of Columbus, OH, Rosie (Robert) Bennett of Scottown, OH and Nancy Fowler of Pataskala, OH; brothers, Larry and Lester (Annette) Thompson of Columbus, OH. Although Maxine did not have children of her own, there was a mutual adoration between herself and her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and qrandnephews. LT. LUCENTE – Nicholas, age 42 of Lantana, FL formerly of Hollywood, Fl, passed away Saturday, November 20, 1999, in Shands Hospital, Gainesville, following a one (1) year, courageous battle with cancer. Lt. Lucente was an active member of the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department for over 16 years. His most recent assignment was as the department’s special Operations Coordinator. Lt. Lucente served as the president of Local 1891 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and was an instructor at the local Fire Academy. Lt. Lucente faithfully served the citizens of Boynton Beach since February 1983 and will be remembered for his dedication to improving the safety and pro fessionalism of his brother and sister firefighters. Lt. Lucente will be sorely missed by his family of firefighters in Boynton Beach and throughout the State of Florida. He is survived by his sister Lisa Hamilton of Hollywood; neice Jamie Hamilton, and will be lovingly remembered by his fiance, Arleen Ramos and her daughters; Alexie and Alyssa. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at 11:30 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 NE 4th Avenue, Boynton Beach. PLATTEIS – Sara Levitt Platteis, age 88, Quarry Brook Drive, South Windsor, CT, died peacefully on saturday at the Manchester Manor in Manchester, CT. she died after a long illness. Mrs. Platteis was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and resided in Schenectady, NY for many years and later moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida. She moved to South Windsor, Connecticut to be closer with her family. While residing in Pembroke Pines she was an active volunteer at the Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines. Sara and her late husband Sid owned and operated a wonderful Mom and Pop grocery store in Schenectady for many years.

Sara will always be remembered for her warm smile, kind words, and gentle heart. Her memory will be forever cherished by her son and daughter-in-law Alan and Teresa Platteis of South Windsor, CT; 2 sisters and a brotherin-law Rose Levitt and Frieda and Mike Ruth all of Clearwater, Florida. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins and her 2 grandsons, Adam and Aaron all of South Windsor, CT.

Services at the Agudat Achim Cemetery Chapel, Schermerhorn Street, Rotterdam, NY on monday november 22,1999 at 12 noon.
