1 teen killed, 2 others injured in Elkhart County crash near Bristol Thursday night

ELKHART COUNTY — One teen is dead and two others are injured after a Thursday night crash in Elkhart County. 

Just after 8:30 p.m., Elkhart County police were dispatched to County Road 108 E, near County Road 31, located a mile east of Bristol, where a car had reportedly left the north side of the road and struck a tree. 

Police said Juan Avalos Jr, 17 of Elkhart, was pronounced dead on arrival. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The 18-year-old driver and an 18-year-old backseat passenger were taken to a local hospital. 

The crash remains under investigation.
