COWART, Charles H.

Charles H. Cowart, 76, of Vernon, left this earth to join his family in Heaven, Sunday (January 30, 2000). Born in Marble Hill, GA, son of the late Benjamin and Julia Bell (Fields) Cowart, he was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr Cowart Came to Connecticut in 1952, settling in Wethersfield before moving to Vernon in 1969. He had volunteered with the Wethersfield Fire Dept. and Ambulance and was a member of the Silas Deane Lodge, No. 147 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the D.A.V. and American Legion Post in Manchester. Before his retirement, he worked for Pratt & Whitney Small Tool for over 30 years. He is survived by his children, Maryann Norbert, Thomas Cowart, Elisabeth Harrison, Kathleen Chandler; 10 grandchildren, Jeff, Charles, and Christopher Cowart, Richard, Jonathan, Alexander, and Christine Norbert, Morgan, Sara, and Adam Harrison; two great-grandchildren, C.J. Cowart, Ashely Little; sister and brother-in-law, Emma Louise and Lloyd Smith of East Hartford; six sisters; three brothers in Georgia and Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He will be welcomed home in Heaven by his wife, Helen (Scanlon) Cowart; son, Casey; daughter, Marie; granddaughter, Evie; and his grandson and partner, Ross Chandler. The funeral procession will leave from the Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte 83), Vernon, Thursday, Feb. 3, at 10:15 a.m. for service of remembrance at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon. Interment will follow.
