An employee at Wyckoff Comfort has been fired after a video on Twitter showed him driving a truck through protesters at the Hy-Vee on Southeast 14th Street on Saturday.

The man, who was identified by the company as Jeff Boucher, was fired Monday, according to a tweet from Wyckoff.

"His actions over the weekend were unacceptable and do not represent the values Wyckoff has built our business on," the company said in a statement on Twitter. "Wyckoff disapproves of his behavior and in no way condones his actions."

The company said in the statement that it "will do our best to educate our employees to make sure something like this doesn't happen again."

On Sunday, Wyckoff tweeted that the company was aware of the incident and would announce its decision publicly.

The Saturday protest was intended to show support for a former employee who claimed she experienced racial discrimination at work.

A man driving a white truck also attempted to drive through a group of protesters after 3 p.m and refused to move until a police officer asked him to back up and choose a different exit

Sgt. Paul Parizek, public information officer with the Des Moines Police Department, said no arrests or citations were made in response to Saturday's protest.
