AREA ATHLETICS: Tomahawk announces All-Conference teams for baseball, softball

MARSHALL — The Tomahawk Conference recently announced its All-Conference teams for baseball and softball and multiple area athletes made the list.

Baseball

In baseball, Carter Benz, Will Carlson and Ty Altermatt made it for Wabasso. Joining them on the All-Conference team were Leyton Brau, Caleb Carlovsky and Josh Giefer (Minnesota Valley Lutheran), Sam Knowles, Noah Wilmes and Isaiah Rieser (New Ulm Cathedral), Mason Leonard, Tori Helget and Jacob Nachreiner (Springfield), Kadon Strong and Jackson Huiras (Sleepy Eye), Carson Domeier and Spencer Hoffman (Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s), Nicholas Taylor (Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart) and Dominic Johnson (Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop).

On the Honorable Mention team, Matthew Evink and Adryen Tietz made it for Wabasso. Joining them are Cole Thompson (MVL), Jacob Berg (NUC), Brendon Buerkle (Springfield), Mason Sellner and Arian Saenz (Sleepy Eye), Joey Herzog and Patrick Hoffmann (Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s) and Braden McColley and Cale Luthens (BLHS).

NUC’s Knowles and Wabasso’s Benz were named the conference’s co-players of the year while MVL’s Jim Buboltz was named the conference’s coach of the year.

Softball

In softball, Sarah Franta and Madeline Hanna made it for Wabasso. Joining them on the All-Conference team were Sarah Mohr, Emily Schommer, Megan Haala and Kiah Helget (NUC), Jadah Borth, Tia Weispfennig and Alex Maiers (BLHS), Brooklyn Sturm, Jalivia Richert, Jaeli Richert and Megan Ploeger (Springfield), Emily Weiss and Julia Helget (Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s), Morgan Aylsworth (GFW), McKenna Strong (Sleepy Eye) and Haley Ditch (MVL).

On the Honorable Mention team, Kelsey Frank made it for Wabasso. Joining her is Lilly Brennan and Lilly Franta (NUC), Emilie Hable (BLHS), Victoria Roiger and Madyson Digmann (Springfield), Megan Ahlness and Lacey Mathiowetz (Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s), Brooklyn Werner (GFW), Morgan Klein (Sleepy Eye) and Grace Bauer (MVL).

BLHS’s Borth and NUC’s Mohr were named the conference’s co-players of the year while Springfield’s Katie Wilhelmi was named the conference’s coach of the year.
