Clyde Everett Hardesty

Age: 92

Residence: Greeley, formerly of the Johnstown area

Clyde Everett “Whitey” Hardesty, 92, of Greeley, formerly of the Johnstown area, passed away at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron. He was born to Ernest Hardesty and Mildred (Titler) Hardesty near Johnstown. He left school after completing the eighth grade in order to help support the family where he would assist his father harvesting beets, corn, and wheat on the family farm.

He served in the Navy for a short while until his twin brother, Claude, was killed during WWII.

On May 5, 1950, he married Shirley Joyce Fields in Johnstown. To this union he was blessed with three sons and one daughter. When Shirley’s parents moved into town, they took over the Fields’ homestead.

While on the farm, Clyde harvested wheat and helped his sons start up a dairy business. After the dairy, he raised sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, and usually had a donkey.

He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnstown. He had lived in Greeley since 1994.

He worked at Carnation Milk Plant, and then spent 25 years working at GW Sugar in Johnstown.

Preceding Clyde in death were his parents, Ernest and Mildred Hardesty; and twin brother, Claude Hardesty.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hardesty of Greeley; three sons and one daughter, Walt (Linda) Hardesty of Otis, Ray (Sheryl) Hardesty of Eaton, Les (Sherrill) Hardesty of Estes Park and Marj (Rod) Jones of Brush; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Greeley Baptist Temple. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Robert Gaylord Akin

Feb. 8, 1928-July 16, 2014

Residence: Poulsbo, Wash.

Robert Gaylord Akin, formerly of Greeley, was called home by his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2014. He was born in Denver, on Feb. 8, 1928, to Gaylord and Zelda (Young) Akin. Robert was educated in Denver, and was a WWII Navy Veteran.

He married Jean Sedbrooke in 1947, and they later divorced leaving Robert with two sons, Gary and Ronald. He later remarried to Lois Jane Curry, and she became a mother to Gary, Ronald, and Craig.

Robert was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lois; and his older sister, Shirley Mckay.

Robert is survived by his younger brother, Donald of Denver; and sons, Gary (Vicki) of Greeley, Ron (Beth) of Aurora, and Craig of Poulsbo, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He will be missed by all those who loved him and called him friend.

Per Robert’s request, there will be no services held.

Hassel Gilliam

Aug. 22, 1934-July 10, 2014

Age: 79

Residence: Eaton

Hassel Gilliam passed away on July 10, 2014, in Eaton. He was born Aug. 22, 1934, to Harrison and Mary (Cress) Gilliam in Delphia, Ky.

In his free time, Hassel enjoyed walking. Nothing brought more joy to him than spending time with children. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Gilliam (Dale Hedman) of Littleton; niece, Jessica Brug of Ault; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Christie Gilliam; and daughter, Mary Lee Gilliam.

Private services are being held.

David E. Trevarton

April 25, 1937-July 15, 2014

Residence: Greeley

David E. Trevarton, 77, of Greeley, died July 15, 2014, at Fair Acres Manor. Dave was born April 25, 1937, to Oliver (Olie) and Opal B. (Babcock) Trevarton in Longmont.

Dave graduated from Longmont High School in 1956. He served in Battery B 168th FA BN, Colorado National Guard from January 1955-February 1956 while in high school as a PFC.

He served in the Navy from February 1956-January 1960 as a 2nd Class Petty Officer, Aviation Storekeeper.

After serving his country, he attended Aims Community College in Greeley during the mid 1960s.

While in high school he worked at Sunset Golf Course, Bi-Rite Drug, Gambles Hardware, and Safeway in Longmont. He later was employed at Martin-Marietta, in Denver; Ball Brothers Research, in Boulder; Dura Manufacturing and Wright-McGill Rod, in Greeley; and Eastman Kodak, in Windsor; which he retired from in 1992.

Dave married Joyce Clements in 1956 and they later divorced.

They had two children, Kathy and Keith. He later married Ann McCammon in 1966.

Dave liked to travel, fish, gamble, do garden and yard work, had several collections, and loved to take care of his pets. He was a member of American Legion Post 0018 in Greeley.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents.

Dave is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Keith Trevarton of Greeley; daughter, Kathy Fagler (Phil) of Berthoud; five grandchildren, Kim Newby (Michael) of Berthoud, Sherry Hubbard (Leo) of Merino, Lauren Trevarton of Loveland, Zachary Trevarton of Fort Collins, and Alex Trevarton of Loveland; four great-grandchildren, Amber and Nathan Newby of Berthoud, Taylor Speaker (Jerry) of Grover, and T.J. Hubbard of Merino; sister, Susan Marcott of Longmont, and brothers-in-law, Neil McCammon (Sue) of Muncie, Ind. and Ted McCammon (Cathie) of Montpelier, Ind.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to your local American Legion Post or Special K Ranch Inc., PO Box 479, Columbus, Mont. 59019-0479.
