Meatless Monday with Dave Becker raises funds for food pantry

Meatless Monday Needham, participating organizations and Dave Becker present a donation to the Needham Community Council Food Pantry. The League of Women Voters of Needham recently held “Meatless Monday with Dave Becker.”

The event involved Dave Becker, owner of and chef for Sweet Basil and Juniper, hosting a cooking class online via Zoom and offering takeout meals. Meatless Monday ended up generating a donation of $3,000 for the Needham Community Council Food Pantry. Juniper and its staff also ended up selling 100 dinners-for-two.

Meatless Monday Needham encourages eating more plant-based meals. It is a project of the League of Women Voters of Needham, Green Needham and the Needham Community Farm with additional participating organizations.
