Von Drashek, Stanley Carl & Barbara Mae Stanley Carl Von Drashek "Stan" passed away December 19, 2018 in Rio Verde, AZ after celebrating his 93rd birthday. Stan was born in Dickinson, ND and graduated at age 16 from Dickinson High School and earned his Eagle Scout. Barbara Mae Von Drashek "Barb" passed away March 19, 2019 at age 93 three months after the death of her husband Stan. Barb was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated in 1944 from West High. Barb and Stan met at the U of MN where Barb studied elementary education and was a Delta Gamma. Stan studied Medicine and specialized in Radiology and served in the Air Force in the Korean Conflict. Barb and Stan were married in 1949 and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this August. They loved adventure, family camping, backpacking and ski trips. Summers were spent at the Prior Lake cabin teaching the kids to swim, waterski and sail. Stan loved aviation and flew model RC airplanes before ultimately obtaining his private pilot's license. Barb joined some sorority sisters to start a used bookstore called The Paperback Exchange. Both Barb and Stan were social bridge players and formed strong relationships playing bridge in Edina and Rio Verde. Once retired, Stan and Barb traveled extensively for 20 years. Barb and Stan are survived by their children Nancy Von Drashek (Don Ethington) of Sammamish, WA; Gail Von Drashek (James Gordon) of Rio Verde, AZ; Bruce Von Drashek of Prior Lake, MN: and grandchildren Madeleine Gordon of Berkeley, CA & Samuel Ethington of Sammamish, WA. They are preceded in death by their son Thomas Von Drashek and Stan's parents Stanley Von Drashek and Mrytle Parker Von Drashek and Barb's parents Oscar Samuelson and Mabel Newberry Samuelson and Barb's brother John Samuelson. A private family service will be held in Minnesota in August. Memorials to UofM Med School.
