MONSTER: The disgraced doctor was struck off

Disgraced Michael Lever will spend a minimum of four-and-a-half years in prison for the rape and abuse of two women over a 20-year period.

Lever – who was called a "monster" by one of his victims in court – has since been struck off by the General Medical Council.

Judge Lady Rae said: "You have been described as controlling, abusive as well as sexually and physically violent.

"From the material I have read, you seem to have little understanding of the impact of your behaviour.

REVEALED: One victim said she woke up naked and propped against a sofa

"You seem also to minimise it."

One victim claimed he spiked her drink with rape drug GHB.

She told the Glasgow High Court: "When I woke up, it was the next day.

"I was naked and propped up against a sofa."

The terrifying attacks took place between 1993 and 2013 in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr and the Borders.

Lever initially said the women had agreed to have sex but a jury unanimously convicted him.

Defence QC Gary Allan said: "Dr Lever now says maybe they weren't consensual."

Lever was previously put behind bars for 15 months in 2013 after he was convicted for attacking family members.

He choked his pregnant wife at hospital accommodation in Carluke, Lanarkshire in Scotland.

Lever was also found guilty of attacking her son between July 2001 and March 2004 and his daughter between July 2008 and 2010.
