Suspect arrested after another man stabbed in downtown Ann Arbor

One man is hospitalized in critical condition and another is under arrest after a stabbing on a sidewalk in downtown Ann Arbor, police said.

The 25-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested after stabbing the victim multiple times in the head and body in the 400 block of East Liberty Street at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Ann Arbor Police. An argument between the two men started while the two were in Liberty Plaza, a small park in downtown Ann Arbor, and moved to the sidewalk.

The victim, a 39-year-old Redford man, was taken to a local hospital where he was in critical condition, police said. The suspect was arrested at the scene and was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. 

The relationship between the two men is not clear, but police believe they are acquainted.  The investigation is continuing.
