There is no doubt in my mind that the Sudbury Star is struggling financially. It’s evident from The Star constantly grasping at straws by using clickbait tactics and sponsored stories.

The most recent case of this is in your recent article about Islamist exorcisms. The article is a large equivocation where, although you don’t directly say it, the underlying message is that Muslims are violent and hateful. This push of fear in order to get views deplorable, as a news network you have a moral duty to report the whole story, both sides of it.

I believe that you as a company are not stupid; you know what you’re doing. You are taking advantage of the people who are not incline to look passed your article to find the full story, pushing fear and subsequently hate.

The Sudbury Star used to be something the people of Sudbury were proud of; however, in recent times these cash grabs have dragged the company through the mud.

I encourage you to hold yourself to the high moral standards of the past, and to remember that you’re ultimate duty is not to money, but to displaying proper information to the public.

Machines replacing people

I would like to share a recent experience at Walmart. I stopped for a quick purchase just after 10 a.m. or at least I thought it would be a quick purchase. I was in line at the express cash where they have four stations, but only one cashier working and a lineup continuing to grow.

One of the associates came along and asked if someone would like to use self-checkout. I asked if she can get some more cashiers, but I was ignored. The second time this happened, she went on a power trip and asked me to stop yelling at her, which I had not. The couple behind me came to my rescue and told her I was not yelling and were ready to talk to the manager.

If I wanted to use self-checkout, I would go on the internet. I do not like machines replacing people. I hope people would voice their disapproval to management more and demand they hire people and not install more self-checkouts.
