North Ridgeville looks to fill at-large seat: City Council recap

North Ridgeville wants to fill council seat; register land for deer hunting; remember special leaf collection rules

North Ridgeville is seeking a new member of City Council. And residents who want to register their land for deer hunting can do so.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- Due to the results of the Nov. 3 election, a seat on City Council has opened up.

Councilwoman-at-Large Michelle Hung will be vacating the seat at the end of this year to take her new position as a member of the Lorain County Board of Commissioners in January.

Hung’s council seat term runs until Dec. 31, 2021.

The city is looking for applicants for appointment to the council seat, which must be filled and approved by council within 30 days. If for any reason the seat is not filled within the 30-day time limit, Mayor Kevin Corcoran will appoint someone.

Applicants must be a resident of the city and a registered voter for at least one year prior to appointment.

Send a cover letter and resume to City Council President Martin DeVries by email at mdevries@nridgeville.org by Tuesday, Dec. 15. Council will then review the applicants and appoint a replacement.

Longbow/crossbow deer hunting land registration

Anyone who wants to register their land for the 2020-2021 longbow/crossbow deer hunting season that began in September and runs through Feb. 7, 2021, must fill out the required forms.

Either stop at the police station for the forms or download them from the department’s webpage: https://www.nridgeville.org/deerhunting.aspx. Then drop off the forms (for a single landowner or multiple landowners) in the lobby of the police department at 7307 Avon Belden Road or email them to soliva@nridgeville.org.

Rules to be remembered for leaf collection

It is all right to place leaves in plastic bags at the curb through Nov. 24 on regular trash day. But after Nov. 24, be sure to leave the plastic bags full of leaves out as extra trash and only during bulk pickup week each month.

Note: Yard waste pickup in the brown bags was completed at the end of October. For questions, call the Utilities Department at 440-353-0841.
