STRUGGLE to sleep? Aldi might have the answer, as it's now selling two fragranced pillows that smell like watermelon and strawberry.

The £5.99 sweet-smelling pillows have nearly sold out online since launching yesterday - but there are still lots available in shops, according to the discount supermarket.

The pillows have either a watermelon or a strawberry scent, with a cute and colourful fruity design to match.

The strawberry ones have already sold out online, and there are only three watermelon pillows left on the website when we checked. But you can still buy them in stores.

Aldi says they're perfect for kids who struggle to get a full night's sleep.

But do they actually help you drift off? We asked a sleep expert.

Can fragranced pillows help you sleep?

WE spoke to sleep expert Lisa Artis, sleep advisor at the UK's Sleep Council, to find out if sweet-smelling pillows can help you drift off:

Lisa told The Sun there's no research that suggests there's any benefit to smelling watermelon or strawberry before you slumber.

But she added: "There are calming scents like lavender that people do use as part of their bedtime routine."

She continued: "If that is a smell that's particularly soothing to you that you love and that smell makes you feel relaxed, then the principal behind that is that it can help you to get to sleep.

"That would not be the be end and end all, as going to sleep is more than just a fragranced pillow.

"But it could be a placebo effect if that fragrance is something you like and it does make you feel calm and relaxed."

The pillows are this week's Specialbuy, which means that once stocks run out, they won't be replaced.

The fragranced pillows are the same price as the supermarket's two other scented pillows on sale permanently, which come in lavender and vanilla, and eucalyptus scents.

You can buy unscented duck feather and hollowfibre pillows from the retailer, but, bizarrely, they're slightly more expensive at £6.99.

The ones at Aldi are cheap, but Dunelm sells two-packs of even cheaper fragranced pillows for £5, which smell of lavender.

Aldi has 775 stores in the UK. You can find your nearest branch using its online tool.

Meanwhile, the discount supermarket slashed the price of its Prosecco to £4.99 before Valentine's Day - and the deal is running indefinitely.

Aldi has also scrapped its 5p plastic bags - which means shoppers now have to pay 9p.

This month, the supermarket gave 8,000 of its workers a pay rise.
