Coronavirus: 77 Cases In Minnesota, Grocery Stores Reduce Hours

TWIN CITIES, MN — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus known as COVID-19 climbed to 77 in Minnesota Wednesday. That number is up from 60 Tuesday, an increase of 17 in one day.

The cases are now in the counties of Anoka, Benton, Blue Earth, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Martin, Nicollet, Olmsted, Ramsey, Renville, Scott, Stearns, Waseca, Washington, Wright

Eleven days have passed since Minnesota's first COVID-19 case was confirmed. A total of 2,762 patients have been tested so far. No deaths have occurred.

Hy-Vee, Target, Lunds, and Cub Foods are among stores in the Twin Cities metro area to reduce its hours in order to deal with the spread of COVID-19.

Restaurants are now closed

Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order Monday enacting the temporary closure of all Minnesota restaurants and bars to dine-in customers.

Government response

A bill signed Tuesday sends $50 million to the state’s public health response contingency account and $150 million to create a health care response fund.

Public schools across Minnesota are closed to students starting Wednesday.

Testing shortage

People who have suspected or known cases of COVID-19, but who are not severely ill, are being asked to stay home.
