Soccer in Middle Tennessee grows from youth clubs to Major League Soccer

Lois Fernandez remembers the strip-mined lot at the corner of Boyd Mill Pike and Downs Boulevard in Franklin. There were earthmovers, tractors and lawn mowers, shifting sod from grid to grid. 

Most of all, Fernandez can still picture her late husband, Jose, leading the construction of soccer’s first home in Middle Tennessee in 1977.
