Short-sleeves or coat? Maybe both as Nashville weather forecast has sharp temperature swings
Middle Tennessee temperatures could fluctuate by more than 40 degrees this week with highs in the 70s contrasted by lows in the upper 20s, according to the National Weather Service.
A warming trend starts this week with high temperatures forecast for the middle 50s on Monday, the upper 60s Tuesday and lower 70s on Wednesday.
There is an 80% chance of showers overnight Wednesday into Thursday that are expected to cool temperatures sharply to start the latter part of the week. Severe storms are not forecast.
Highs Thursday are expected to be in the middle 50s with lows overnight into Friday morning forecast for around 28 degrees.
The high Friday is forecast to be around 49 with an overnight low into Saturday morning around 29 degrees.
The sharp difference in temperatures are not unusual during the “transition season” from warmer to cooler weather during the fall, NWS meteorologist Brendan Schaper said.
Normal highs for this time of year are generally in the lower 60s with normal lows in the upper 30s, Schaper said.
Less sunlight also provides extra time to cool, Schaper said.
Saturday’s high is expected to be in the upper-50s with overnight lows in the upper 30s. Upper 50s are forecast again for highs on Sunday with a 30% chance of rain.
