Flash flood watch issued for Somerset County

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch in effect until Thursday afternoon.

Heavy rain is expected to increase in intensity Wednesday and become heavy at times through Thursday.

Rainfall totals are expected to reach between 2 and 4 inches in Somerset, Cambria, Bedford, Blair, Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, McKean, Mifflin, Northern Centre, Northern Clinton, Potter, Southern Centre and Southern Clinton.

"Flash flooding is possible especially in urban areas and along small streams and creeks," the National Weather Service said.

Strong wind gusts and thunderstorms could also cause damage to the area.
