Should I get tested?

You should contact your healthcare provider to determine if a test is needed. Health officials say you should not show up in person at a doctor’s office or hospital, rather contact them by phone.

Alabama COVID-19 24/7 Hotline

The Alabama Department of Public Health now has a hotline and general email address dedicated to answering COVID-19 questions from the public. The hotline number is 800-270-7268 and will be active daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The email address for questions is covid19info@adph.state.al.us. The agency also has a toll-free line to get information on testing sites and operations. That number is 888-264-2256. Just input your zip code and the department will help you locate the testing site nearest you.

  • Restaurants statewide closed except for take-out or pick-up orders
  • Daycares, childcare centers closed
  • Gatherings of 25 or more prohibited; all gatherings where people can’t maintain 6-foot distance prohibited
  • Non-emergency dental procedures are canceled through April 10
  • Some ABC stores are closed; curbside sales of closed, unopened containers of alcohol allowed

How to file for unemployment

Alabama workers who are not able to work due to the coronavirus will be eligible to file for unemployment benefits. Workers can file for benefits online at the website or by calling 1-866-234-5382. Online filing is encouraged.

Beach closures

Gulf Shores public beaches are closing at 7 a.m. Friday. The beaches will remain closed through April 6.
