Chicago trio arrested in Lafayette drug investigation

LAFAYETTE — Two Chicago residents suspected of dealing drugs went to jail Monday, and a third Chicago resident, who is wanted for attempted murder, was also jailed, according to book-in records.

The trio's arrests are part of a drug task force investigation, according to police, who did not release any factual information about the arrests. There is some vague information about their arrests from the police bulletins and jail records. 

Police arrested James Tyrone Leandre Andrews, 30, in the 100 block of Main Street on Monday afternoon.

Andrews, of the 8000 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Chicago, was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of dealing narcotics, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.

Andrews posted bond about 2:55 a.m. Tuesday and was released from jail, according to jail records.

Police arrested Shante Andrea Jackson, 25, of the 2113000 block of South Brandon Avenue in Chicago, near 18th Street and Elmwood Avenue. She is charged with dealing narcotics.

She remained incarcerated Tuesday afternoon in lieu of a $2,500 surety bond and a $250 cash bond, according to online jail records.

Police arrested Charlie Luis Cepeda, 20, of the 6100 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Chicago. Officers picked him up in the 1400 block of Main Street, according to police bulletins.

The warrant for Cepeda's arrest is from Chicago, where he's charged with attempted murder, according to the Tippecanoe County Jail records.

Lafayette police also jailed Cepeda on suspicion of false informing for lying to officers.

He remained jailed Tuesday.
