YODER

Clark A. Yoder, 92, of Salisbury, PA, was born near Grantsville, MD, to Alvin H. and Martha (Maust) Yoder on March 13, 1928. In his youth, he accepted the Lord as Savior and was baptized. He became a member of the Maple Glen Mennonite Church where he remained a member until his death on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020. He is the oldest of six brothers: Kenneth L. (Ruth), Roman L. (Mary, deceased), Ezra P. (Mary), James L. (Edith), all of Grantsville, and Mark H. (Mayla), of Berlin, PA; and four sisters: Ruth (Raymond) Tice, both deceased, Cora Anna (Marvin) Yoder, Springs, PA, Ellen (Edgar) Yoder, both deceased, and Mary Opel (deceased) (Donald L. Opel), Grantsville. On March 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Vera M. Yoder, daughter of Ervin J. and Mabel (Miller) Yoder and they became parents to four sons: Kenneth (Rhoda), Chambersburg, PA, Robert (Glenda), Salisbury, Richard (Eileen), Salisbury, and Ronald (Joyce), Dover, DE; also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. For most of his life he was a farmer and an able auctioneer. Teaching Sunday school or Bible school and serving on committees were among his gifts until Alzheimer’s disease intolerably crippled him. Viewing and burial will be private for family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, in the Maple Glen Mennonite Church with Pastor Tim Yoder and Pastor Robert Yoder officiating. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
