It took double overtime and another one-point game, but the Tigers won at home against the Titans, the fourth Class 8A team the Tigers have played this season.

Cocoa fell behind in the first quarter as it struggled with turnovers, but O.J. Ross got going and scored three rushing touchdowns, including in the second overtime.

J'Mariyae Robinson, held in check for most of the early going, scored the tying touchdown in the first overtime and caught the 2-point conversion pass from Davin Wydner that won the game.

Eden James scored two of his three touchdowns in the first quarter and Rico Porcha and Jamison Davis also added scores. Porcha finished with three rushing touchdowns and also threw a touchdown in the second overtime.

The 38th edition of the Martin Bowl was a continuation of Tiger dominance the past decade as Paul Boisvert’s two first half touchdown runs and two Jaxon Scott touchdown passes in the second half sent Martin County to a 4-0 start.

Boisvert scored on runs of two yards and 10 yards to give him seven total through four games.

Backfield mate Denzel Alexander weaved his way through the Bulldogs defense for a 55-yard scamper in the second quarter that put Martin County up 20-0 at halftime.

Scott found Braydin Samuels and Jayden Pressey for long touchdown passes in the third quarter.

South Fork mounted a long drive into the red zone on its second possession early in the second quarter in a 7-0 game but didn’t come away with points and never threatened the rest of the night.

Martin County has won seven of the last nine matchups and leads the series overall 22-16.

Centennial 40, Jensen Beach 14

Jensen Beach jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter but the Eagles scored two touchdowns in the final 31 seconds of the first half and never looked back.

Chris Dalger’s interception return for a touchdown followed a 60-yard connection from Dylan Miranda to Javion Toombs to give Centennial a 23-14 halftime edge.

Miranda, who came on for an injured Malik Torres in the first half, threw another touchdown in the third quarter to Isaiah Roberts, and Demari Scott had a touchdown run in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles improve to 3-2.

Falcons quarterback Gio Casicone threw touchdown passes to Nick Venezia and Jamari Marshall in the first quarter, but it was all Centennial the rest of the way behind its defense that also got a safety from Tyler Buck in the second quarter.

Vero Beach 48, Fort Pierce Westwood 16

It was another outstanding night for the Vero Beach offense both through the air and on the ground as Maurice Smith Jr. threw four touchdown passes and running back Reggie Ferguson ran for a score and caught another.

Smith, against his former teammates, went 14-for-17 for 192 yards and had three of his touchdown passes in the first half as Vero raced out to a 41-8 halftime advantage.

Ferguson and Quincy Rodgers each went for over 70 yards and a touchdown on the ground and Ephraim Floyd had five catches for 105 yards and caught two touchdowns.

St. Edward’s 34, Cedar Creek Christian 12

The Pirates traveled to Jacksonville and overcame a bit of a slow start and got three touchdown passes from Dylan Redmon to move to 3-0.

A 14-yard touchdown from Grant Domenich started the night for St. Edward’s and Redmon hit Oscar Lindenthal for a touchdown right before halftime to give the Pirates a 14-6 edge.

A goal line stand to start the second half led to a long Riker Pratt run that set up Redmon’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Connor Wolfe and after a successful onside kick recovery, Redmon hit Lindenthal for his second score of the night late in the third quarter that sealed the victory.

Cameron Barnes capped the scoring with a five-yard run in the fourth quarter for St. Edward’s.

Port St. Lucie 48, Space Coast 0

Saleem Felder ran in four touchdowns and Santiago Rodriguez threw for three more in the win for the Jaguars.

Allen Graham was on the receiving end of two of Rodriguez’s scores, including an 80-yard connection and Robert Tatum added the third touchdown catch for Port St. Lucie, who improved to 3-1 on the year.

The Jaguars have allowed only 13 points in their three wins on the season.

Bayside 26, Fort Pierce Central 23 (OT)

Nick Halliday threw two touchdown passes as the Cobras held a 20-6 lead with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Bears charged back to win on a touchdown in overtime.

It was a low-scoring first half with the two teams tied 6-6 before Halliday hit Lincoln Landry on a 45-yard touchdown connection to give Fort Pierce Central the lead.

After a Chandler Percival interception, D’Marvelous Reid’s three-yard touchdown run put the Cobras ahead 20-6.

The Bears picked up a touchdown in the final minute of regulation and a successful two-point conversion to send the game to overtime.

Tyler Patterson converted a field goal on Fort Pierce Central’s possession, but Bayside scored on its second play with their possession to finish their comeback victory.

Cardinal Newman 17, John Carroll Catholic 7

In a game up for grabs in the second half, the Rams couldn't take care of the football and Cardinal Newman took advantage with 10 second-half points to score the road win.

Nick Meltzer's 20-yard touchdown run in the second quarter came after John Carroll recovered a fumble that tied the game 7-7 that stood as the halftime score.

Cardinal Newman turned up the heat defensively in the second half, forcing three turnovers and sacked Ram quarterback Dawson Maehl five times in the fourth quarter alone to put away any thoughts of a John Carroll comeback.

The Rams forced three turnovers against one of Palm Beach's most talented teams that rightfully gave John Carroll head coach Mickey Groody something to spotlight.

"That’s a good team that Cardinal Newman had out there tonight, and we competed till the very end," Groody said. "We could have given it away there, but our defense stepped up and played huge for us tonight."
