An AI benchmark listing has revealed the processor and RAM details of the OnePlus Nord 2, the successor to the company’s popular mid-ranger from last year. As previously rumored, the device will get MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 chipset with 8GB of RAM. The listing also confirms the phone runs Android 11 out of the box.

This would reportedly be the first time OnePlus will be using a MediaTek chipset and it’s starting off with a Nord series phone. The Dimensity 1200 is the Taiwanese company’s most advanced smartphone system-on-a-chip (SoC). So it perfectly fits the billing for a Nord device, which is aimed at offering more for less.

Built on a 6nm process, the Dimensity 1200 is one of the fastest smartphone chipsets to date with an operating frequency of up to 3GHz. Other key highlights include UFS 3.1 storage, 5G connectivity, 4K HDR video recording, 200-megapixel camera support, and 168Hz refresh rate support. You can find more about this chipset here.

OnePlus Nord 2 will feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 chipset

Following the launch of its first mid-ranger, the OnePlus Nord, back in July 2020, OnePlus has gone on to release four for Nord series phones. The OnePlus Nord N100 and Nord N10 5G came in October last year, followed by the Nord CE 5G and Nord N200 earlier this month. The company is now gearing up to launch yet another model in the series.

The OnePlus Nord 2 has been on the news quite frequently over the past few weeks, revealing several key details. Reports suggest the handset will feature a 6.43-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint sensor. Though the recent AI benchmark entry only shows 8GB of RAM, the phone might also get a 12GB RAM variant. OnePlus will likely offer the device in 128GB and 256GB storage options.

The back of the OnePlus Nord 2 will reportedly look identical to the OnePlus 9 flagship series. There will be a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 50-megapixel primary shooter, a Sony IMX766 sensor. An 8MP ultrawide camera and another 2-megapixel sensor complete the rear camera setup. For selfies and video calls, there will reportedly be a 32-megapixel camera on the front.

Reports suggest the OnePlus Nord 2 could be a rebranded Realme X9 Pro with a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. The recent merger between OPPO (Realme parent) and OnePlus has further fueled those rumors. With the device expected to launch sometime in the first half of July, it’s not a very long wait now before things go official. You can expect to hear more about this device over the course of the next two weeks.
