Winter Weather Advisory issued for Green Country

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington Counties until 6 p.m. today.

Some schools throughout northeast Oklahoma are closing Friday due to freezing rain and sleet headed toward Green Country.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says with freezing temperatures and rain in the forecast, slick conditions could quickly develop on roadways.

Drivers should use caution especially on bridges and overpasses.

A handful of districts, including Nowata and Bartlesville Public Schools, have decided to close as a precautionary method.
