Merion Station, Wynnewood Have PA's Smartest Residents: Study

A study shows which Pennsylvania ZIP codes have the highest post graduate population, and the Main Line has some of the smartest residents.

WYNNEWOOD-MERION STATION, PA — A new study lays out which Pennsylvania ZIP codes have the highest concentration of post grads.

UnitedStatesZipCodes.org released details from their most recent study and several Main Line ZIP codes were prominently featured among the top 10 for having the most post graduate residents.

But it was Merion Station and Wynnewood that topped the list.

According to the website, Merion Station — 19066 — has a 61.2 percent post grad population giving it the highest post grad population in the state, while Wynnewood — 19096 — has a 51 percent post grad population, ranking as the second highest post grad population in the state.

Nearby, Ardmore has a 31.4 percent post grad population, ranking No. 34.

The website generated the ranks after the Census Bureau released the latest estimates from the American Community Survey data to estimate the percent with a post graduate degree.

Only ZIP codes with a low margin of error are included.

UnitedStatesZipCodes.org's rankings include those with a Master's, professional, or doctorate degree.

The Pennsylvania percent with a post graduate degree from the latest estimates is 12.5 percent and has risen 4.1 percent from 12 percent.

This year saw several big changes; 19102 — Philadelphia rose from No. 4 to No. 3, 19072 — Narberth fell from No. 3 to No. 4, 19035 — Gladwyne rose from No. 9 to No. 7, 19103 — Philadelphia fell from No. 7 to No. 8, and 19333 — Devon rose from No. 17 to No. 9.
