Three COVID deaths in Delta County

ESCANABA — Local health officials Monday reported 58 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County since Friday — along with three virus-related deaths — and 26 more cases in Menominee County.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also raised Menominee County’s probable case count by nine and Delta County’s probables by eight.

The PHDM website Monday had Delta County at 3,895 confirmed positives, 837 probable cases and 97 deaths. Menominee County has had 2,068 confirmed positives, 496 probables and 43 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday listed 227 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 59 in Delta County, 42 in Marquette County, 24 in Menominee County, 20 in Dickinson and Houghton counties, 11 in Alger County, nine in Iron and Chippewa counties, eight in Mackinac County, seven in Ontonagon and Baraga counties, six in Gogebic County, two in Schoolcraft and Keweenaw counties and one in Luce County. The state had a single new death in Delta County.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 22,485 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 458 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 159 confirmed cases and 33 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 240 confirmed cases and 292 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 383 confirmed, 234 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 408 confirmed cases and 117 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 485 confirmed, 61 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 582 confirmed cases and 294 probable, four deaths; Baraga County, 786 confirmed cases, 145 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,113 confirmed cases and 98 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,195 confirmed cases and 372 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,230 confirmed cases and 1,587 probable,and 30 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 2,059 confirmed cases, 489 probable and 43 deaths, three probable; Dickinson County, 2,577 confirmed cases and 574 probable, 60 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,739 confirmed cases, 634 probable, 37 deaths and nine probable; Delta County, 3,885 confirmed cases and 828 probable, 77 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,644 confirmed cases, 941 probable and 66 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 6,093 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of 2,031 per day for the three days, for a total to date of 976,505. The state Monday added 29 deaths attributed to the virus — including nine that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,535.

The state issues new COVID-19 figures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
