Celebrating? Here's how to get a free ride in Corpus Christi on New Year's Eve

Had a few celebratory drinks? A Corpus Christi company has you covered. 

Green-N-Go Cabs and Yellow Cab will offer a free taxi ride home to those who have had drinks on New Year's Eve. 

The rides will be from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. no questions asked, the company said in a news release. To get a free ride home, call or text 361-299-999. 

When texting the number, enter your name and a location to be picked up. Rides will only be offered to those wanting to go home, not to another bar or party, the release states. 

"It has not been an easy decision to conduct the free ride home program this year in light of COVID-19. The last thing we want to do is appear to promote celebrating New Year's Eve as if this virus was not a major concern," said Larry Roberts, director of marketing for Andrews Distributing Company. "We encourage everyone to follow community guidelines with regard to their New Years activities. However, we feel that a substantial number of people will still go out to celebrate the new year."
