Two brothers were killed by gunfire at an Orange Blossom Trail hotel in Orlando on Saturday — one by another man during a fight and the other by a responding deputy, the Sheriff’s Office said.

OCSO on Monday identified the men killed as brothers Dylan Jimenez, 20, and Bryan Richardson, 28.

In an unsigned press release, the Sheriff’s Office said Jimenez and an unidentified man shot each other during a fight outside of the Heritage Hotel at 7900 South Orange Blossom Trail about 12:30 p.m. Richardson and Jimenez ran to the northern side of the building, where Jimenez collapsed in the parking lot, according to the release.

OCSO deputies arrived shortly after and began treating Jimenez. When they saw Richardson nearby, he was holding a gun, the release said.

Deputies told Richardson to drop the gun, but he refused, according to the Sheriff’s Office. One deputy then shot Richardson, the agency said.

Richardson, Jimenez and the third man involved in the initial fight were all taken to the hospital. According to the press release, Richardson and Jimenez have since died, and the third man is expected to survive.

The deputy who shot Richardson will be placed on paid administrative leave. OCSO said the deputy has been with the agency since 2018.

The agency refused to identify the deputy who fired or the others who responded, citing Marsy’s Law, a recent victims’ rights amendment to Florida’s constitution that has been applied to shield the identities of law enforcement officers who use deadly force.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
