Richard Edward "Port" Harri, 67, of Hermantown, MN was born June 6, 1951 to John and Ermie (Coad) Harri in Ely, MN ad peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 27th with his loving wife and caregiver, Peggy, by his side at Solvay Hospice House.

Rich graduated in 1969 from Ely Memorial High School. He attended Vermilion Community College in Ely before transferring to St. Cloud State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Rich was employed by St. Louis County, in the Auditor's Office, for 33 years and retired in December 2007.

The son and grandson of Masons , Rich joined Euclid Masonic Lodge in 1988. He became very active in the organization, as well as being a member of Scottish Rite and the AAD Shrine. He held various leadership positions and was a Chaplin in his Masonic Lodge until his passing.

Rich met the love of his life, Peggy (Aird) Hiestand in 2003 and they were married in 2004. He loved to golf, dance and meet with friends for coffee. He also enjoyed playing cribbageand many computer games. After retirement, Rich became a volunteer at Animal Allies, Essentia Health and served on boards with Augustana Church and Keene Creek Association, plus worked part time at Piedmont Milk House. Rich and his wife together volunteered for Senior Linkage and AARP - giving presentations on preventing scams , along with doing advocacy work for senior citizens with State and Federal Legislatures.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, step children: Robyn of Washington D.C. and Ryan of Duluth, "grandcat Tuxedo", mother-in-law, Delores Aird of Duluth and his faithful, loyal friend since childhood, Tom Coombe of Superior , "special neighbor and friend, Lois Lahti" and many cousins and friends.

Services will be held at the Duluth Masonic Center, on the corner of Lake Avenue and West 2nd Street, Duluth,MN on Sunday, May 5th. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 with services starting at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Euclid Masonic Lodge #188 (4 W. 2nd St., Duluth, MN 55802) or Augustana Church (251 Midway Rd., Duluth, MN 55811)

The family is deeply grateful for the staff and volunteers of the ALS Association, Essentia Hospice Program, Essentia Neurology Clinic, Mayo Clinic, along with Solvay House for their care, kindnesses, guidance and support during the last chapter of Rich's life.
