'RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3' Is Almost Here & The Trailer Has Fans Shook

by Kristie Rohwedder

Start your engines, because a RuPaul's Drag Race preview-ganza extravaganza has arrived. VH1 released a trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars Season 3, and it sure goes for the gold. In the promo for the upcoming installment of the RuPaul’s Drag Race spin-off that dropped on Thursday, RuPaul and nine RPDR alums deliver gilded looks in gilded rooms, and whew, the whole thing is a decadent dream. Speaking of dreams, you didn't imagine Ru saying there would be a 10th queen on Drag Race: All Stars 3. Alas, this trailer doesn't shed any light on that mystery. Hey, at at least one major question has been answered — the premiere date. On, Jan. 25, 2018, Season 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars will commence in all of its fantastic glory.

In the preview, former RPDR contestants Aja (Season 9), BenDeLaCreme (Season 6), Chi Chi DeVayne (Season 8), Kennedy Davenport (Season 7), Milk (Season 6), Morgan McMichaels (Season 2), Shangela (Seasons 2 & 3), Thorgy Thor (Season 8), and Trixie Mattel (Season 7) bring the heat like the all stars that they are. Like Thorgy, you will feel incredible while you watch it.

The RPDR: All Stars cast was announced back in October, not by way of press release, but a thrilling VH1 special. At one point during the program, Mama Ru said something about 10 contestants vying for the All Star crown. However, when the ru-veal was all said and done, there were only nine names on the list. The Emmy-winning host joked about being “so awful at math,” and left it at that.

Oh, is that so? Or might Ru be pulling fans’ legs like Alaska pulled that prosthetic leg out of her dress at the RDPR: All Stars Season 2 reunion? If the latter is indeed the case, that means there is still a RPDR: All Stars mystery to solve: Who is the 10th RPDR: All Stars Season 3 contestant?

As is bound to happen on the internet, RPDR fans have posted possible spoilers, theories, and guesses about who will be the 10th contestant. Among all of the predictions about who may or may not take that final slot is a popular theory that Season 1 winner BeBe Zahara Benet may be the 10th competitor.

This would be major. First of all, it’s always nice to see anyone from the original cast all these years later (can you believe it’s coming up on its ninth anniversary?). Furthermore, BeBe would be the first RPDR winner to appear on a season of All Stars, which would add an interesting layer to the competition. It'd be a chance for her to both defend her title and attempt to rake in a second one, and hey, who doesn't love some fresh stakes?

Another feasible prediction: Some fans suspect Season 6's Darienne Lake may be part of All Stars Season 3. If Darienne does indeed comeback, it would mean RPDR fans would get a chance to see the Darienne vs. BenDeLa rematch we've been waiting for. And that would be quite a thrill.

These are just two of the many predictions that are out there. But hey, for all any of us know, Ru could go out to left field and return with Season 5 breakout star/doll Lil Poundcake. Gotta say, it would be a delight to see her lip sync for her life.

Would you take another look at that Season 3 roster and let it sink in? This lineup is stacked. And apparently, yet another powerhouse could join the fray. The 10th contestant may still be a shrouded in a golden cape of secrecy, but here’s one thing that couldn’t be more certain: All Stars Season 3 is already shaping up to be a season for the ages.
