KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — UPDATE: 9 p.m. — Knoxville Police said late Tuesday night that a suspect for whom they had been searching along with the U.S. Marshals Service and other assisting agencies had been taken into custody.

According to the U.S. Marshals, the suspect they brought into custody is Alexander Thomas, 31, from New York state. Thomas was arrested at a home in the 2700 block of Jersey Avenue. Thomas was wanted on an outstanding parole violation warrant from New York state. There were shots fired, but there are no reports of any injuries.

The pursuit of the suspect had shut down S. Concord Street near Painter Avenue. That street reopened around 9:15 p.m.

Concord Street closed at Kingston Pike as law enforcement serves warrant to man wanted in New York

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Law enforcement agencies assisted the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday to serve a warrant to a person wanted out of New York.

Knoxville Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were assisting the marshals in the area of South Concord Street and Painter Avenue, near Tyson Park.

KPD said Concord Street is closed between Kingston Pike and Painter Avenue and is asking people to “please avoid the area until further notice.”
