Man arrested after Moniteau County vehicle stop

An Independence man was arrested last week after a vehicle stop in Moniteau County in which authorities said they found cocaine and heroin in the car.

According to Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports, deputies were running a routine patrol May 28 when they conducted a vehicle stop on Missouri 5, just south of Tipton.

When they spoke with the driver, identified as Alexandru Mirica, 37, deputies reportedly noticed a strong odor of alcohol and then conducted a field sobriety test. They eventually placed Mirica under arrest for DWI.

Deputies then searched the vehicle and said they found controlled substances, including cocaine and heroin.
