Authorities identify Stoneham robbery suspects accused of leading law enforcement on chase that ended in crash near Boston state police marine base

Authorities identified two robbery suspects who are accused of leading law enforcement on a chase across multiple highways Monday that ended with them crashing their car near the Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit base in Boston.

Around 11 a.m., State Police Trooper Ryan Resmini located a gray Kia Optima officials claimed was used in a robbery in Stoneham and later to drive at an officer.

Resmini tried to stop the Kia on the ramp from Interstate 93 southbound toward Leverett Circle in Boston, according to a statement from state police.

He ended the pursuit and alerted other troopers about the vehicle description after the Kia went around Leverett Circle several times, passing the Museum of Science on Charles River Dam Road and traveling on the wrong side of the road, the statement said.

A short time later, state police said, Trooper Devon Surian, who was working a paid detail, saw the suspects' car driving on Nashua Street.

Surian followed the Kia onto Beverly Street, a dead-end road that runs behind the State Police Marine Unit headquarters. The car became disabled after striking a curb, and the two suspects ran away from the vehicle, according to state police.

One of the suspects was caught by Surian, and the other was eventually captured by other troopers on Harvard Place in Charlestown, a street near Rutherford Avenue, authorities said.

Both suspects were taken to the state police barracks in Medford and then to Stoneham police for booking, according to officials.

Nobody was injured during the chase, authorities noted.

The suspects have been identified as Marquise D. Henry, a 37-year-old Boston resident, and James D. Rogers, a 39-year-old Mashpee resident, state police said.
