Two Arrested After Mecosta County Drug Bust

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office says two people were arrested after a drug bust in Deerfield Township on Monday.

They say deputies arrested John Towne, 50, of Morley and Amberlyn Vanspriell, 25, of Morley.

Deputies say Towne, who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant at the time of the drug bust, fled on foot into the woods and yelled at deputies that he had a gun.

They say after the pursuit, Towne was apprehended after being tased by deputies. Deputies say Towne was found unarmed.

Towne was arrested for obstruction/resisting arrest, possession of heroin, delivery of heroin, and an outstanding felony warrant.

Vanspriell was arrested for delivery of heroin.

Both Towne and Vanspriell remain in the Mecosta County Jail after being arraigned in the 77th District Court and are innocent until proven guilty.
