Dick’s Sporting Goods is hosting a hiring day Wednesday, Oct. 16 for 125 seasonal positions available at a number of area stores.

Hiring will take place on-site at stores in Laguna Hills, Tustin, Yorba Linda, Ladera Ranch, Fashion Island (Newport Beach), Eastvale, Chino, El Segundo, Moorpark, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Murrieta, West Covina and Upland Colonies.

The retailer, which will hire some 8,000 people nationwide for the holidays, said it’s looking for applicants who are “passionate about sports, to draw on their personal experiences and in-depth knowledge to guide, inform, equip and inspire customers this holiday season.”

Interested applicants should first apply online at dicks.com/jobs, then visit their nearest store Wednesday for an interview.

The Pennsylvania retailer made headlines in 2018 when, in the aftermath of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, it banned the sale of assault-style rifles and the sale of all guns to anyone under 21. Its CEO Ed Stack told CBS News earlier this month the company had opted to destroy $5 million worth of assault-style weapons it no longer sells. Dick’s is also weighing whether it will sell guns at all.
