A $30 Wisconsin Lottery scratch-off ticket turned into $500,000 in winnings for Patricia Alicea of Green Bay. She claimed the prize in late August.

MADISON - A $30 investment in a scratch-off Wisconsin Lottery game has yielded an enormous dividend for a Green Bay woman.

Patricia Alicea claimed a $500,000 top prize from the Big Cash Bonus Crossword game, according to Kailey Bender, a spokesperson for the lottery.

Alicea claimed the winnings on Aug. 25. The ticket was purchased at Howard Central BP, 2002 Velp Ave., in Howard.

Howard Central received a 2 percent incentive — amounting to $10,000 — for selling the winning ticket, Bender said.

The odds of winning the top prize of $500,000 in the Big Cash Bonus game are 1 in 106,667.

Big Cash Bonus Crossword is a $30 ticket. As of Oct. 19, one top prize remains unclaimed from the game, Bender said.

The game involves scratching-off 20 letters in box and, in an accompanying puzzle, scratching-off matching letters. If those letters reveal complete words in the puzzle, a multiplier reveals the level of winnings.
