STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – An apparent line-cutting dispute led to the stabbing of a Southeast Michigan automotive assembly plant worker on Monday, July 6.
One of the workers is believed to have cut in line at a turnstile to enter the Fiat Chrysler assembly plant in Sterling Heights, which resulted in a week-long conflict between the co-workers, Local 4 Detroit reports. The quarrel culminated in an argument and stabbing in the plant parking lot during a lunch break on Monday.
The victim was initially listed in critical condition at a local hospital but has since been upgraded to stable, the report said.
The Sterling Heights Police Department responded to the incident, but the suspect had fled the scene, the report said. On Tuesday, police said the suspect, a 26-year-old Sterling Heights resident, was in custody.
The police investigation is ongoing.
